The Difference Between Search Engine Optimization and Social Marketing

November 16th, 2010 1 comment

Search is an intent driven activity. Individuals don’t randomly search much, we search to find answers, information, goods and services to consume. The power of search engine optimization is pretty focused. Be in front of the consumer at the time of consumption. There’s no more effective time to be present and no more effective way of knowing what is desired. All the social graph analysis in the world won’t tell you that Sunday evening, Bob got fed up with his current selection of footwear and, after some searching, spent a few hundred dollars on an e-commerce site. However, being front and center when he searched for “mens shoes” brought them some nice business.

Social Networks, whether Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, Flickr, Reddit, StumbleUpon or something else – is about connections, interaction and discovery. We hardly ever use these portals as a way to find answers, though they certainly may provide plenty of information to unasked questions.

March 12th, 2009 4 comments

Recently we’ve been dialing in an extra facet to our new project offering. We’ve been releasing press about our latest clients and projects for quite some time, but we will also be creating buzz for our client sites through our social networks. Currently, we’re spreading the word and the work through our Facebook fan page, Twitter, and our Blog. All have benefits, and as we add new clients, we’ll be tracking the analytics to extract the most benefit out of the process in for every new client signed.
